As brewers/blenders, we have always been drawn to experimentation and innovation. Additionally, feedback and shared participation within our customer base is just as important to us. The combination of these two concepts has led us to our newest limited offering:

 

Trial & Ale's Mixed Ferment Blending Club

 

There are many things in blending that we have long wanted to do, and combinations we'd love to try. Many of our bucket list blends, and ideas we have, we know are not commercially viable. Special releases that use expensive fruit, rare hops that are not available in large enough quantities, and ingredients that require prohibitive production labour hours to use are just a few examples of why we are unable to bring some ideas to market. I can't imagine most retailers would entertain carrying 15 different SKU's either. Most breweries utilize their taprooms to conduct such experiments, but as a production brewery without a public taproom, we needed to get creative. We are happy to announce our two-tiered Mixed Fermentation Blending Club Memberships.

 

Membership Pricing and Subscription Levels:

 

6 Bottle Membership Tier - $195 + GST

3 Bottle Membership Tier - $120 + GST

 

What's included?

 

Each shipment (likely every 6 - 12 months), we will compile a mix of staple beers and innovative, not-for-retail blends only to be released to our club members, along with a ton of other goodies to enjoy. Each shipment the mix will change, and so will the bonus items, but the value provided should be pretty consistent. As of now, due to inter-provincial alcohol importation laws, we are only shipping within Alberta. Here are some examples of we expect to include in a club membership box:

 

6 Bottle Membership Tier

  • Six 750ml blends, to include unreleased blends or comparative vintages not available in stores

  • A Trial & Ale jealousy-inducing hoodie

  • Free shipping on future direct shipped orders of 3+ bottles

  • First access and priority to special releases and member-only blends (and reorders)

3 Bottle Membership Tier

  • Three 750ml blends, to include at least one unreleased blend or comparative vintage not available in stores

Why are you sending me an Erlenmeyer Flask?

 

We spoke above about participation. We want you to be creative and collaborative in the process. We blend typically for what we enjoy. We want your palate to join us in creating. Who knows? a blend of 100ml peach mixed fermentation, 200ml blackberry Brett saison, and 50ml dry hopped mixed fermentation could be the most amazing thing ever created. You get to decide for yourself! The hope is to create a fun way to enjoy these beers that otherwise wouldn't exist in the world were it not for a club format. Our hope is that through your experimentation and sharing the results of your blends of blends, we cultivate a culture of innovation that drives the underrepresented world of sour & wild ales to the next level. We would like to suggest three hashtags for the resultant sharing on social media platforms: #mixedfermentation #trialandale #blendingparty. This will help us collate and catalogue all your responses.
